We have a safe and open-minded environment with two campuses, 11 departments, 200 research groups and nearly 10,000 students representing about 60-70 nationalities. Gothenburg is a welcoming and beautiful city with strong student traditions.
What kind of programmes does Chalmers offer?
We offer 40 two-year Master’s programmes (of which 39 are taught in English) within engineering, architecture and technology management, including:

All programmes include a large proportion of project-based assignments. This provides you with hands-on experience of working in a team with everything from planning and organisation to meeting deadlines and presenting results. Through these projects you also learn to apply theoretical knowledge to tackle complex problems, preparing you for real-life situations in your future career.
What’s the alumni network like?
Being a Chalmers alumnus means being a part of a large and lively network of more than 60 000 alumni spread over 120 countries worldwide.
What are ties to local industry like?
The largest private companies in Gothenburg are Volvo Cars, Volvo Trucks, SKF, Volvo Info Technology and Ericsson and Chalmers has cooperation with all of them. We have developed clear links between our Master’s programmes, research and industry. Teaching staff are also active researchers, meaning that you as a student will be close to the latest findings within your field. During your studies you’ll meet guest speakers from the industry and visit relevant workplaces in your field. There are also many opportunities for you to write your master’s thesis in close cooperation within a company or research team.
We have recently begun a new initiative to further strengthen our support of entrepreneurship, with SEK 300 million over a 10-year period pledged to support new and upcoming entrepreneurial project from Chalmers.

Tuition Fees
- Programmes at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level within all subject areas, with the exception of Architecture, cost SEK 70 000/semester (SEK 280 000 total programme fee, four semesters).
- The tuition fee for Bachelor’s and Master’s Programmes within the field of Architecture is SEK 95 000 per semester (SEK 380 000 total programme fee, four semesters). Consequently, students admitted to Chalmers’ Master’s Programmes within the field of Architecture, namely Architecture and Urban Design and Architecture and Planning Beyond Sustainability, are incurred the aforementioned fee of SEK 95 000 per semester.
- Single subject courses cost SEK 2 333/credit, with the exception of courses within the field of Architecture, which cost SEK 3 167/credit.
What does the tuition fee include?
For programme students the tuition fee includes:
- Full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s-level studies; 30 credits/semester
- An offer of accommodation (not including rental payments)
- The student union membership fee
- A Swedish language course
Scholarships
Scholarships are a great source of funding for Master’s students who are liable to pay tuition fees. Some of these are administered by Chalmers and others by external institutions. Below you will find links to scholarships for both prospective and current students.
