University of Stavanger
The University has about 11 500 students and 1600 employees. International students form an integral part of the community on campus, and currently just over 12% of our students have an international background.
The aim of the University of Stavanger (UiS) is to challenge the known and explore the unknown. The UiS embraces the globalised world, but never forgets to nurture its local, regional and national roots.
The areas covered by our study programmes are diverse and the number of our international programmes is constantly growing. At the UiS, research is valued as a key aspect to recover new knowledge. This takes place in doctoral programmes, research groups and centres, in addition to a number of individual projects.
The University of Stavanger is located in one of the most attractive regions in Norway with a dynamic labour market and exciting recreational activities. Stavanger lies on Norway’s south-west coast, surrounded by magnificent and diverse landscapes. The region offers a variety of outdoor activities, ranging from surfing and fishing, via skiing, hiking, climbing and base-jumping, to walking on sandy beaches.
